Rev. Jean O’Bresky began serving First Congregational Church UCC Springfield as their pastor since March 2012.
Rev. Jean O’Bresky has served in many capacities throughout her career in ordained ministry. As well serving churches both as a settled pastor and interim, she has been a hospital chaplain, community organizer, public policy advocate and homeless shelter director. Of all the hats that she has worn, parish ministry is what she loves the best. “My favorite part of being a parish minister is getting to know people and becoming a part of their lives. I get very attached to the communities I am serving.”
Pastor Jean has a passion for community outreach. “Church is not just about what happens on Sunday mornings, but how we reach people all seven days of the week.” Through dynamic worship and thought provoking sermons, Pastor Jean seeks to inspire our congregation to move outside our walls and do ministry throughout the community of Springfield.
Pastor Jean and her partner Shelly Sechrest are from Minneapolis, MN. They moved to the East Coast in 2007 and they live in Springfield, VT with their cat Toby.
We believe in God’s continuing testament. This is why we are committed to hearing God’s ancient story anew and afresh in our lives and in the world today. We try to remain attentive to God’s creative movement in the world. Religion and science are not mutually exclusive, and your head and heart are both welcome into our places of worship. We prepare our members and leaders to be engaged in ministry in the present and future church, and we embrace all kinds of communities and new modes of thinking. Why?
Because God is still speaking.
